Baking Macarons with Friends
Hello everyone,
Today I made macarons with my friend Rayne! The inspiration for baking them came from my trip to France in 2024, where I got to try them for the first time. They are so light and delicious, but I have heard that they are difficult to bake, and they need a lot of equipment. This is where Rayne comes in.
Rayne is an excellent baker, and makes macarons regularly. I knew she had the proper equipment, so I asked her if she would be interested in baking with me for this project. So far, this inquiry has turned into baking a lot with friends and family, which I have come to realize is the best way to bake for me. I do not have enough motivation on my own to bake, unless I get to share the experience with someone I love.
There are two major components of macarons – the cookie, and the filling. We decided to make lemon blueberry macarons, as it was something Rayne had made recently, and they went well.

The hardest part of the experience was actually forming the cookie part, as you have to swirl the piping bag full of cookie batter, making each cookie even. There were definitely a couple wonky ones, but Rayne is a great teacher, and for the most part they turned out quite even, like the ones you see above. We made two types of cookies – one pure lemon, and the other with the blueberry. Then, we filled them with blueberry cream and lemon custard. They were absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! Just like the macarons I had in France.

The process took a few hours, so I think that I would only make them again for special occasions. Quite labour intensive!
Let me know what I should bake next!
Cheers,
Rylie
